Hi. Thank you for writing to ask to meet with me or to come to your show. I'd love to see you but don't have the time to meet everyone individually. May I invite you to come as a guest to one of our free weekly ScreenplayLab events instead?

We're automated and paperless. Due to the volume of submissions we receive, if you mail or email your headshot by mail or email we can't use it. We have an upload system where you can place your headshot and resume online.

Every week I cast half a dozen actors for ScreenplayLab's free workshop/showcase on Sunday afternoons. It's a good way to network, and more than two dozen actors have signed agent representation as a result. You don't have to be cast to come to one of our events. To come as audience you can RSVP online. Most of our events are free.

For Actors Who Want to be Cast in ScreenplayLab Workshops

If you'd like the opportunity to be cast for the workshop the first step would be to upload your headshot into our database. Email me at <casting@risingcast.com> to get a secret code that will grant you access.

ScreenplayLab provides an opportunity to try new material and showcase your abilities in front of a live audience. Unlike a typical showcase, it doesn't cost anything. Many ScreenplayLab actors are working in network TV shows, studio motion pictures, and national commercials. More than two dozen actors have found agent representation from ScreenplayLab.

Actors are cast ahead of time by type from their headshot. There are no auditions and no rehearsals. Actors typically get pages a few days in advance of the reading. Sometimes cold. I look at our database of actors when casting. If you email me a note midweek stating you're available and asking to be cast that increases your chances. Also, coming to ScreenplayLab and reminding me you'd like to be cast helps.

ScreenplayLab holds a staged reading just about every week. We usually meet Sunday afternoons from 3pm-6pm. The reading is from 3-4:15. The second half of our program is an industry guest speaker. We read up to thirty pages, one act from a feature, half of a one-hour series, or a sitcom.

During the feedback session the actors give feedback first in case they need to leave. The writer is typically present. The feedback is what you liked and how you would improve it. Actors cast for the workshop need to arrive at the theater between 2:30 and 2:45. If you need to leave you can go after about an hour. You're welcome to stay to hear our main speaker who will talk until about 6pm.
